James Armstrong

mud, sculpture, artist

I was born in Winchester in 1980. In 2004 I studied my foundation course there too. I went on to complete my B.A at the University of East London. This is where I began working with mud. From that point I started experimenting with it and realized the diverse qualities it has, from the sublime, to the humble. Each sculpture I produce, the mud will dictate part of their aesthetical outcomes. since university I have made work for two shows: 'MUD' in 2008, at 4m works in London, 'Art in the Garden' in 2009, at the Hilliers Arboretum in Hampshire. 'Face Culture' in 2013 at the art cafe in Winchester. Currently I am working in a private wood in Hampshire, continuing to develop ideas.
